💵 Paying my rent

You have to pay your rent before the 1st of the following month.

For example, I have to pay my September rent by 1 October.

1. I get my bank card ready.
2. I log in to my personal account on messervices.etudiant.gouv.fr.
3. Under the ‘Manage your accommodation’ section (Gérer son logement) > ‘Cité U’ > ‘Crous Lyon’ > ‘My current accommodation’ (Mon logement actuel).
4. I click on ‘Pay rent’ (Payer le loyer) and make the payment securely.
5. I receive a confirmation email which serves as my electronic proof of payment.

1. The person logs in at https://cite-u.crous-lyon.fr/citeU-LYO/.
2. They enter their email address to receive confirmation of payment, the details of the person staying there (INE number + surname + first name or surname + first name + date of birth) and the payment amount.
3. They click on ‘Pay rent’ (Payer le loyer) and make the payment securely.
4. They receive a confirmation email.

Under certain circumstances, I can pay by bank transfer, in cash or by credit card. Ask reception of your hall of residence.

🛜 My internet connection

All halls of residence (except for accommodation in retirement homes) are connected to the internet via the Wifirst PlanetCampus network. Some rooms are fitted with RJ45 sockets.

1. I select the ‘PlanetCampus’ Wi-Fi network.
2. The login portal opens automatically. If it doesn’t, I enter the following into my browser: https://portal.wifirst.net
3. I can then log in in two different ways:

Via my messervices.etudiant.gouv.fr account

  • I click on the ‘Log in with MesServices Etudiant’ button (Connexion avec MesServices Etudiant).
  • I enter my login details (email address and password).
  • I create a PlanetCampus account.
  • My login is activated.

Via my login code:

  • I collect a login code when I collect my keys.
  • I enter it in the ‘login code’ field (code de connexion).
  • I create my PlanetCampus account.
  • My account is activated.

The Private Wi-Fi option allows me to connect all my devices to my private network. To do this, I go to ‘My Customer Area’ (Mon espace client)> ‘Private Wi-Fi’ (Wifi privé) to retrieve my Wi-Fi key. I then enter it on all the devices I wish to connect.

I ring the helpline on 01 88 24 61 68. I give them my contact details and my location (hall of residence, block, floor, room number). I make a note of the incident number, which I then email to the student liaison officer or the hall of residence office to let them know.

🧽 Maintaining my home

I clean my flat regularly using simple, inexpensive household products: white vinegar, black soap, toilet cleaner, a sponge, a brush, a small broom…

I don’t put any metal in the microwave (cutlery, tins, aluminium foil, etc.).

I don’t overfill the fridge, I don’t set the temperature too low, and I empty it before going on holiday.

These fridges only have an ice cube compartment: they aren’t freezers, so I can’t store frozen food in them for long.

I clear the hair out of the shower drain so it doesn’t get blocked. I descale it once a week using vinegar.

I clean the toilet and the toilet seat regularly with vinegar and toilet cleaner.

I don’t leave food scraps in the sink and I clean it regularly.

In winter, I air my home for 5 to 10 minutes a day to let fresh air in.
In summer, I open the window at night and lower the blinds during the day.

  • I don’t leave any leftover food lying around (sandwiches, pizza, cakes, etc.).
  • I make sure to seal my tins and packets properly (pasta, rice, flour, cakes, etc.).
  • I empty my bin regularly and do not leave the bin bag in the corridors.
  • I tidy and clean the cupboards regularly using vinegar.
  • I do not leave my belongings on the floor.
  • I do not use bleach in the event of an infestation.
  • I report the presence of cockroaches or bedbugs immediately.

🛟 Where can I find support if I need it?

🍽️ University restauration

Make the most of the €1 meal available to all students!
12 restaurants and 23 cafeterias offer healthy, balanced set menus near the campuses.

Good to know:
– The Filtre à Porte-des-Alpes and Le Studio cafeteria at La Doua are open until 8 pm.
– A new Click & Collect website to save time and collect your €1 meal deal from the cafeteria: crousandgo.crous-lyon.fr

I must pay for my meal using IZLY to benefit from the student rate.

How do I set up my account? I received an email titled ‘Activation of your Izly account’ with a temporary password when I paid my CVEC fee.

To pay for my meal, I have two options:
1. I use my student card; my Izly account will be debited automatically (provided I’ve topped it up!).
2. I download the Izly app onto my smartphone, generate a QR code and show it at the till.

⏰ Keeping my flat in my hall of residence next year

🗝️ Move out of my flat

1) I will send a notice of termination one month before the date of departure (by registered post or by hand-delivery against receipt at the secretariat).

2) I look at the checklist to prepare for the handover inspection

3) I clear out and clean the property before the handover inspection. Quick tip: this takes time!

4) I book an appointment for the property inspection.

5) I attend my appointment.

6) I empty my letterbox and return the keys and access card.

7) I make sure I’ve added my bank details to my messervices.etudiant.gouv.fr account so I can get my security deposit back (one month after handing back the keys).
